Blog #1, ENG 101

In Ernst's introduction she should have introduced the passage and the author more quickly, however she still did add the author in the introduction. She does a good job at including Bill Bishops quotes and phrases which are good examples. She also references the controversy and which side she chose very quickly in the introduction which shouldn't really be added until a body paragraph. Summarize: Ernst does a good job at summarizing although she has some errors in her essay. In each paragraph she explains Bishops perspective and also his unbiased examples. Assess: Ernst decides to agree with Bishops position. The information she uses is accurate and very significant although she fails to put page numbers its clear her examples are from the book. She also uses the author's are from the book. She also uses the authors interviews of others to give the summary. Respond: Yes, Ernst responded to what she preferred, but I feel she did it to early in the introduction. She should have waited and wrote her side right before her conclusion. Conclude: Overall the piece was good. She inquires her own knowledge on how she feels about the chapter. She also added a lot of Bishops details into the essay.

I think the author Gabrial Garcia Marquez's on writing the story is to inform everyone about what really happened. Obviously the sailors story had some point, like he had to let the rest of the world be aware about everything that was first of all wrong on the ship and secondly it maybe it will be a good survival guide! Apparently three serious offenses have been committed, "it was illegal to transport cargo on a destroyer ship, the over weight prevented the ship from maneuvering to rescue the sailors and third the cargo was contraband-the destroyer was loaded with an ill-secured moral and political cargo that we hadn't foreseen". So apparently this story reveals alot about what people should be looking out for and what sailors now can pay attention to. I think it's going to be a good book, because if it wasn't I wouldn't be on chapter 9 already
