Study Abroad
I would choose to go on a National Student Exhcnage Program, this way I'm still in the country but still abroad. I would go to Hawaii and stay there for the semester. However, if I did choose to study abroad I would go to Australia. I would take 15 credits in seeing you have to take 12-15 to be an undergraduate student. The deadlines to apply is October 1st for spring and April 15th for fall. Studying abroad according to the Frontier Journal is a great way to share experiences of other cultures and to learn other languages more effectively. While visiting other countries your able to learn about their surroundings and daily activites that are different from your daily norms. According to the Journal of Studies on International Education, confirms it true that students who study abroad are more internationally aware. Interecultural communication skills are also strengthened because of the travel. Exposure to new cultures and new enviornments allows students to open boundaries and become multi-cultural in their future way of living. I am not worried about expenses, however I am worried about leaving my family and being so far away. I would rather do a short-term study over spring break instead of staying in another country for a semester. But again I'd prefer Hawaii for a semester since it is in the states. There are degree programs for Speech Patholgy in Hawaii that I've previously researched, Hawaii is also alot cheaper than American colleges, or SUNY Plattsburgh. While being there I will learn the culture, about myself, and creative problem solving. :MLA works cited: -"Study Abroad and Exchanges in Australia - Bond University" SUNY Plattsburgh.
